What is included free?
Nine calculators: Wire Size, Circuit Sizing, Voltage Drop, Conduit Fill, Conduit Bending, Box Fill, 3-Phase Power, Ohm’s Law and Conversions. Selected NEC 2023 reference tables and plain-language summaries are also included. Supported result cards show their work and identify the code reference or general method used.
What does Pro add?
A one-time in-app purchase unlocks Motor Circuit, Transformer, Fault Current, Dwelling Load, EV Charger and Grounding, plus named jobs with customer details and notes, editable saved calculations, duplication, offline PDF reports, text sharing and remembered conductor/insulation/termination defaults. Existing Pro purchasers receive the new Pro features at no additional charge. US price: $9.99; your local price appears in the App Store. There is no subscription.
Can I try Pro before buying?
Open any locked Pro calculator to see a read-only worked example. The free Jobs screen also offers a sample PDF. You can open the sample report here. Custom inputs in Pro calculators and saving/exporting your own jobs require Pro.
Can I enter a decimal comma?
Yes. Decimal fields in version 1.1 accept a comma or a dot: 35,1 and 35.1 both mean thirty-five point one. A comma is a decimal separator, not a thousands separator. Use whole numbers for conductor counts. The iPhone app stays in portrait orientation.
Which code editions are supported?
The code-based tools use NEC 2023. There is no edition switch; other editions and local amendments are not modeled. General electrical laws and bending practice are labeled separately. Wireman is a reference tool, not the full code book or a substitute for the adopted code.
What assumptions should I check?
Use the lowest applicable termination/cable temperature limit; NM-B uses the 60°C column. Motor sizing assumes permitted 75°C terminations. Box Fill supports 18–6 AWG and the stated yoke/clamp/ground allowances. Dwelling Load covers a limited 240 V model with a single range, non-coincident A/C and resistance heat, and services up to 400 A; it is not a heat-pump or complete dwelling-design tool. Transformer estimates full-load current and primary-only fused protection for supported inputs up to 1,000 V, not a complete transformer installation design. Fault Current is an infinite-primary estimate. Conduit Fill uses THHN conductor areas with EMT, PVC Schedule 40 or RMC. Voltage Drop uses a simplified resistance formula; check ampacity separately. Unsupported inputs produce no recommendation.
Where can I see a worked example?
Read the guides to wire size and temperature limits, voltage drop and conduit fill. Each includes assumptions, calculations and an actual app result.
Where are my saved results?
Tap Save on a result, name it and assign a job, then open Jobs. Saving is manual and requires Pro. Reopen new records to edit their inputs or duplicate them. Select records to export a PDF with job details, notes and references, or export their text. Older records without saved inputs remain readable and exportable. Calculations stay open during navigation and the upgrade flow in the current session; unsaved drafts are not an archive.
Records are stored only on this device. There is no automatic 100-record cutoff, but storage is limited by your device. If saving fails, the app reports it instead of showing a false success. Export important records before removing the app. Restoring Pro does not restore your calculation history. PDF and text reports are not restorable backups.
I bought Pro on another device. How do I restore it?
Use the same Apple ID and open Settings → Restore Purchase while online. A valid purchase unlocks Pro at no additional charge. If the connection fails, try again later; contact support if an existing purchase still cannot be restored.
Does it work offline?
Calculators, reference tables and saved results work offline. Purchases/restores, external support/legal links and optional usage analytics need an internet connection.
Does Wireman have ads or analytics?
No ads or cross-app tracking. Optional usage analytics are off until you enable them under Settings → Privacy → Optional Usage Analytics. They include interaction events, a random identifier and approximate region through Google Analytics. Calculation inputs and saved results are not included in these events. Read the Privacy Policy.
